Selections from my Library--selected from books I've read-picked for their relevancy

Nature does not distribute the same bounties to all alike--and that's all right with me--for I wouldn't give up my hills, my pines, my oaks, and woodland hills including my streams, for all the flat, treeless, land in all of creation..

Nature eliminates those who do not satisfy her requirements, and from Nature's decree there is no appeal

He who would read intellectually must first learn to eliminate...

I have a sullen streak--an unformed stubbornness--in my own quiet way a rock bound determination......so

the past has a rosier bottom than the present....

a "man" takes care of his own--and he pays his debts...

under fire discipline produces accurate thought

Is this one of those lessons in life I keep hearing about--like the story of the guy who used poison ivy to wipe his ass

"Life" is the important thing

anger so persistent and so intense sucks up the will

no one has ever developed without making mistakes in the process

human beings dare only those things which in their interpretations of their world are valuable to them...

to a delicate ear her tone might have resembled  the stab of a pin stuck into a waxen image...

she did not know then that the price of allowing false opinions was the gradual loss of one's capacity for forming true ones

you cannot extract purity from glittering temptation, or morality from undue restriction

Self interest is a strong motive power..

the strength of the effort is the measure of the result....

evil is always somebody's mistaken point of view...

Expression, never repression, is the function and life of man...

If people were held to every stupid thing said out of passion, the species would soon go extinct...

to be sure, without fulfillment of the heart, all other success is hollow....

any belief--which tends to produce passiveness, negativism and complacency, is debilitating...

consciousness of self actually expands our control of our lives, and with that expanded power comes the capacity to let ourselves go--this is the truth behind the seeming paradox, that the more consciousness of one's self one has, the more spontaneous and creative one can be at the same time....

'Energy is eternal delight" said William Blake; "he who desires but acts not, breeds pestilence."

In the depth of our eyes there is room for everything one has ever thought, and since there is room for it, it all demands to be seen....

variety, not sameness, gives the flavor to existence....

Nothing bought at the price of a man's dignity is a gift in my book...

one  never does know and never can know as a fixed , finite fact the always harmonious and the always right....

one's believing and continual learning makes life's changes....

ages old humanity--brought down to the every day old living is you and me...

almost all our faults are more pardonable than the methods we think up to hide them--Francois de la Rochefoucauld

faith is easier to come by than belief....

in ordinary life, repeated experience and social pressure slowly correct individual narrowness, though there is such a thing as invincible ignorance...

All experiences become sources of insight...

Should one lie for the sake of simplicity

The truth is that most people feel that they are being deprived of their wealth if they are prevented from displaying it, and it is the superfluities not the necessities of life, which really afford the opportunities for such display. From this we see that the craving for wealth is not a passion that comes naturally by the vulgar and irrelevant opinions of the outside world......

I think that a man who beats his wife or child is laying  sacrilegious hands on the most sacred things in the world...

It is impossible to understand a person's faith until one understands the people whose faith it is...
Reason and religion have journeyed side by side in the minds of men from the very beginning, but it is the rarest of spectacles to see them clasp hands and stand together on the common ground of intelligence and truth....

Maybe some of the old ways no longer work when the world becomes different...

Almost all great fortunes are based upon one genius's ideas and the guts to go with it...

And as I told the story, I found myself trying to understand all over again. I spoke slowly in a monotone very deliberately, it was the drone of a man speaking through the mists of illusion finding
reality...

As one we sleep to rest --the day is done we're moving on--one step less--there's no end to black space--forever...

But in a world divided by a thousand contradictory approaches to life, implementation of different theories is almost impossible....

An idea 's age doesn't necessarily invalidate it--"old" doesn't mean "inherently inferior"...

You know how people pick up bits and pieces of null value data....

Emptiness of space is most necessary for fullness of perception...

I know this much, that a thing which is valuable which has worth, must be allowed a sufficient amount of space around it and this definitely includes people...

There is an ease, a sureness, a lightness of touch, that comes from mastery. After all, only he who handles his ideas lightly is master of his ideas, and only he who is master of his ideas is not enslaved by them. Seriousness after all, is only a sign of effort, and effort is a sign of imperfect mastery...

if you never find yourself alone, you will never find --yourself at all...

There are no boundaries in evolution...

Nature highest happiness lies in changing the things that are, and forming new things after their kind--whatever is, is in some sense the seed of what is to emerge from it...

Time is a river--the resistless flow of all created things. One thing no sooner comes in sight than it is hurried past and another is born along, only to be swept away in its turn. No wonder that the heart hardens and the soul folds up...

Life is short--snatch yours from the passing hour--elements of nothingness--(we all resolve into)--all things fade into the past, and in a little while are shrouded in oblivion...

There is no progress except through vision, and there is no realization of the vision except through the expression of intelligence...

When you get to the point of arguing, you're past the point of changing anybody's mind.

Old aging equals insight with maturity, I find that even ignorance has it's brighter side...

The past needs to be approached from a distance...

The waiting began to get in the way of the resting and finally displaced it...

We argue because we are confused. The man who knows does not argue; the man who argues does not know...

For just about the first time in my life I knew how it must feel to get old. My body was demanding special privileges and offering nothing in return..

In ways or waves --my mind is like a clock --it just keeps on keeping on--like it's on atomically-- the atmosphere--the biosphere bare with me here--lot of things I cover or talk about comes from bites and pieces of conversation, T.V.<radio, and plain old mental eruptions--almost like verbal vomit--or something like when  a volcano erupts--why do things erupt pressure--that's what it's about----I have questions--answer's or not discovery-unless it's shared doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot -does it?        I "m not going to make anything that I have to do difficult-- time is not on my side--and life does move on, the path I thought I was following --doesn't leave a wide enough window to get in or out of so--as everyone does the cracks and crevices seem to widen--investigating these and continuing onward and upward -is to say challenging --what is illusion, what is real, How to approach what's ahead, what angles to use,--what to look for-what not to do --all lead somewhere--it's like taking a wide angle lens and looking for a straight line leading onward--there is no straightness in life--I take that back--if one has a goal there is that possibility--but it's only possible if you are someone like Wallenda - (tight rope walker) with a very focused mind--each step 's reward backed by the conduct

Happiness is a way of life

Marriage Lament-

When we were interesting
When we were productive
When we were younger
When I was strong
When I was thin
When we felt better
When we use to swim together
When we went on trips
When we took walks
When we gardened
When we laughed together
When I cried
When we were intimate and satisfied
When we had a lot of money
When our dogs were young
When our house looked clean and bright
When we read the same books
When I would weave, knit and spin for hours
When we had friends
When we answered the phone
When Mother and Daddy came to visit
When we got a new car or truck
When we had more time ahead of us than behind us--Amen   (Died May 7, 2013 6:00 am) Love ya
